Default Porsche 915 Transmission Repair Tutorial

So I'm on the Google a couple weeks ago trying to get info on Peter Zimmermann's old place Redline Services. Individually I got nothing but combine "peter Zimmermann Redline" and I got a hit. I opened the link and still didn't find exactly what I was looking for......

Fast forward to today and I looked it up again and find this:

http://porsche.wikidot.com/system:pa...g/transmission

Still not exactly what I was looking for, but for guys with a 915 tranny it's gonna be a gold mine.

Well that is interesting, is that a recent or new website and article by Peter?

Can't "hide" much on the Internet! It's new, Ed, and over a period of months there will be regular installments that will take the project to its completion. The web site is in its infancy, and, as with all start-ups, has had some teething problems; but it's getting there!

We're not sure how to place future sections of the tutorial; add one to existing text, or pull one down and replace it with the next one. We'll get it worked out, so for now, enjoy!

One thing that I have not been able to do is have oil analysis done on transmission oil. I'm particularly interested in Swepco, Sta-Lube, and Kendall 3-Star, so if any of you are coming up on a change interval and can bottle and ship your oil for analysis, or if you have a recent analysis sheet, donations to my project will be gladly accepted!

Hey Pete, love the website, what a tool. I am going to be changing my transmission fluid on my G50 in the next two weeks or so. Would you be interested in a sample? I believe there is Mobil 1 Delvac in there currently? I would have to check my service records to be sure. Let me know.

That would be terrific! I have a hunch that after the 915 Tutorial is done that the G 50 "might" be next. If I have an opportunity to start to build my database now it will benefit everyone later. Thank you!

Thank you, "jake!" The first five parts of the Tutorial are written, but I don't know what the posting schedule is as yet. More to come!

Pete i am not sure what my plans are for my gear box this winter , and with the border shipping could be tricky. But if i do change myfluid I will let you know as I know EXACTLY how long it has been in and EXACTLY how many kilometers are on the oil.

I replaced it when I very first got the car so i just have to look at the documents when i registered it. it sat in my garage for 8 months while I did the maintanance.
