Default My New 3.2!

After several months of searching, I just took delivery of a 1987 Carrera Coupe, silver/burgundy, with 119K miles on the clock and a host of tasteful upgrades. I went up to Monterey this year for my bachelor party and came back with a full-blown case of Porsche Fever!

I'm hopeful that this one will be the cure for what ails me!

I'm glad Porsche Fever is all you cought LOL

Sweet car. Absolutely beautiful. I love a coupe without a tail of anykind - nothing but curves.

Thank you all! I have a Dansk exhaust and SW chip that will be going on the car soon, but anyone have other recommendations for what to do?

A really good tune up. Do a major service(like the 60k svc in the manual). Find a good shop in your area and visit several before you commit to one for service/repair. This interview process will help you decide who is the best shop for you. Also, join Porsche Club of America and sign up for the first drivers education(DE) you can get in on. Your driving skill will net the biggest gains in the performance of your new car. When you've done all of that ... detail the hell out of that puppy. Also, resist temptation to install aftermarket stereo, alarm, etc and if it already has that have it removed. A new stereo head unit and speakers are fine, just don't hack into any of the electronics.
I think that polished center caps with the enamled crest would look awesome on that coupe.
Keep us updated on your progress.

Very nice. It may be the wide angle lens, but the rear wheels look a little on the positive camber side, and the car sits a little high. Go slowly on the modifications. Or at least go slower than your rate of new knowledge absorption.

Thanks for posting the pic!

My guess is that it's balancing out the scoop on the right side so as not to pull to the right.

Tune up, 60K good idea. Screw finding a local shop. Buy the 101 projects book, crack open that tool kit, order some parts and do it yourself.

Anybody can do a cap & rotor, change the oil, belts, fuel filter, air filter and host of other things. Once you do these step up, pull out the AC and change the plugs.

Now your ready for brakes and possibly a valve adjustment. Swap the trans fluid and maybe bleed the brakes.

A shop will charge you an arm and leg to all this. You can do it yourself for less than 1/2. Save the money for your first mod or first major expense as it will hapen.

Besides when you do it you get to know your car more and give that engine bay a good tidy. Something you mechanic will not do.

Now take your ride for a fun day of tracking at Willow Springs!! I take my stock 1986 Targa all the time and it's a blast! Next event is 12th and/or 13th of December.
