Default I am looking for radio advice

I bought a used Blaupunkt manhatten CD deck on ebay. I installed it in my 911 only to find that the amp is burned out. The pre-amp outs do work but the unit gets very hot even when it is turned off. I assume this hot running condition is related to the burned out amp but I guess it is possible that they just get hot. Anyway, I was going to hook it up to an external amp but I'm afraid the heat will cause a fire. Does anybody know enough about radio's to give me some direction on this subject? Do radio's get hot when there off? It sure dosen't seem normal. Obviously I can just buy another radio but now its personal...

Call the guy at SW Stereo. He may be able to help with finding a repair shop.

All I can say is that Blaupunkt service and repair totally sucks. I'd rather buy another unit than send one in for repair.

There is a problem with that radio. When radios are off they should give off know heat. Even when are on, they should only be warm to the touch. Buy a new radio. It does not pay to get it repaired. You can get good radios these days for such a good price.

my guess is you have ashort in there somewhere .... throw it out .. it is not worth your car going up in flames .. or killing your battery and Alternator ..

BTW it is ammeter.. not sure if your being fasicious but it is a side function of the multimeter and most are fused to 10 amps max. I wouldn't recomend it in this case putzing around with this obviously bad head unit could prove costly to other componenents of the car ,,,,,, drop back and punt ...
