Gorgeous car... probably the finest targa I've seen.

Don't we have to disclose the asking price here? If not, care to share?

Good luck with the sale

You may be correct about asking price, to be honest I am not sure what to ask in current market that's why it's on ebay.

Good point. It'll be an awesome addition to someone's stable.

Beautiful car, and if it has all matching numbers, even in today's market it's worth every penny. Richard Sloan has a 1971 911S Targa with 64,000 miles and he is asking $100,000.00 www.sloancars.com

Mine has a replacement engine it's a correct 911/53 engine for a 73 S just not the one that was installed at factory. You see a few $100K S coupe, I don't think I have ever seen a S Targa sell for that kind of money. I'd be happy to get 1/2 that much for mine.

You'll get more than half that much, I think. Beautiful car!

We didn't appreciate the early cars nearly enough when we common folk could afford them........ (Did the car sell?) Funny that I've got a 73.5 T Targa in Sepia Brown that could have rolled off the line close to this wonderful S sitting in my backyard now that I'm holding as collateral on a loan. Neat car to drive around a bit this summer!

Ken,
You are right, I had a 40K mile 72 S that was perfect, I paid $8500 for, damn if only I had bought 20-30 of those and kept them. Auction is still running. You really need at least 2 early 911's a targa and a coupe. they are completely different cars.

I received an imediate deposit, I fully expect buyer to complete transaction. Had another bid for $100 less, so car will be sold.

I missed this. What did it sell for? Beautiful car probably would have been interested. I still like a Targa.

The auction went well. The prevailing wisdom is you can't give cars away right now, especially on ebay, I didn't have very high expectations. Cars like this don't show up for sale on open market very often. Thanks for all the positive comments.
