'85 Carrera a bit sluggish until into higher RPMs - Y?
I've had my new-to-me '85 Carrera for just under 2 weeks now and have been enjoying every second of it! Besides it's 1st gear synchro troubles she's been great!
One strange thing I have noticed is that in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears she's a bit sluggish until higher RPMs are reached. It's hard to explain how it feels, but when driving at a constant speed, its sort of like "power, less power... power, less power" - up/down... up/down. When you get into it, once it hits a bit higher RPMs, she rocks out w/ no problems - almost like a power band on a 2 stroke. In 5th at highway speeds - again, no problems. When idling it also has a 750 to 1000 RPM up/down.. up/down intermitency.
I'm wondering what might cause this type of intermitency. Any ideas? I just had the wires, cap and rotor replaced last week but have did not put a full tune up into her yet. I believe the last full tuneup was performed about 20k miles ago.
