Hello,

Can I get a long distance drivable 911 for $6,000 or less? If so where can I find one? Ive looked on ebay but every car in that price range seams to have issues.

Probably not. But as the saying goes......... Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.

WOW i have NEVER heard that before .... a blind squirrel can also nibble on the wrong nut ... and it would be painfull .... for 6G you might get into a 944, but even that would have issues ..

So not even a 75 or something to that degree. what interests me is if its mechanically sound and has not been crashed. Paint and interior I can deal with.

i wouldn't think so .. some of the older ones are very desireable .. most are worth more than your 6G in parts alone if the guy was to part it out.. but as Muss says .... the blind squirrel thing

Even finding a 75, if the head stud issues hasn't been addressed, it will cost you bundle to have the engine rebuilt correctly.

Most collectible cars the body is the money pit. A 911 is usually the other way around.

I did get mine for $6k, have maybe $500 in it, and some work of my own (I do all my own work short of machine shop stuff).

I have put about 6,000 miles on it so far, no major issues so far. It does need some more things done, but it is my daily driver, 70 miles per day mostly freeway.

It's a 1965, but with later 70's bodywork, and it is a little motley, but I absolutely love it.

I got very lucky.

I would look in Central California or extreme Northern California (Redding, Eureka, Arcata) for that price range. My reasoning is that Calif. has more 911s than practically anywhere else, and in these areas you're more likely to find a humble 911 that has possibly had an engine rebuild by a knowledgeable guy who is reasonably priced. We are several notches below Southern Calif in terms of price on just about everything.
