I have an 81 SC Targa with an 89 3.2 motor. My problem is at any unknown point the engine cuts out for a fraction of a second and is extrmely annoying not to mention what it might be doing to other components. Has anyone had this problem? New cap, rotor, plugs and wires have nnot corrected this. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

Mike, I have the same issue with my '88 Targa.
The engine will quit and then catch. It has happened a few times usually under power. I have no answer yet.

I don't know the cause, but I do know that fuel pressure is critical in these cars as well. If the pressure drops the fuel does not get injected correctly, so now that you have the spark sorted, take a good look at the fuel side.

I'd put my vote in for the DME relay.
This component controls the power to the fuel pump (in the original installation) and the ECU which between the two, draws a lot of current.
As Dan indicated, these are rather problematic and its wise to not only change them, but carry a spare, too.
The other thing is "connectoritis". Any flaky, oxidized or corroded battery cable or electrical connetors will present the same symptoms. I'd strongly encourage you to thoroughly clean ALL of the battery cables & grounds as well as tighten the wires on the fuse panels.
It never hurts to rotate those cursed ceramic fuses, too.
