( 1983 911SC ) Found the nail with my name on it , flat left rear ;( . Question , pulled my 1983 never used mini spare. I thought I saw the sticker on the tire state the spare is not reusable. Surely it`s reusable .? Will the tire deflate back to factory size ? ect.

I was having fun with mine and inflated it to see if it stayed inflated....afterall its 26years old. I had no problems getting the air out and putting it back in the trunk.

I don't think those tires ever go back to "factory size". What are the odds of a 26 year old piece of rubber liking to be inflated and deflated?

I carry two cans of sealant and a compressor.

As long as they weren't over-inflated, you're OK.

Those tires are impressive. I am a black belt/engineer at a tire plant and brought mine in to work a while back. All of us engineer-types marvelled over how easily it went back into shape. We found somebody that knew the construction details. Very interesting stuff.

I had the same concern when my left rear blew out @ 90mph in no-mans land between Huntsville, AL and Nashville, TN. 100+ degrees dressed for my employee review (white shirt tie dress pants...) traffic whizzing by, over a blind crest. Yeah that was fun.... I moved the left front to the rear and used the inflatable spare on the front. Easy to use no signs of deterioration. Then........ parked on a slight downhill, wind blast from a F-ing truck made the car roll fwd and twisted the jack in the receiver hole!!! Now I couldn't open the door be cause the jack is in the way, can't push the car backwards (uphill) to get the jack back in place, can't lower the jack because it's jammed..... can you say nightmare?? I ended up getting in the passenger side starting the car putting it in reverse and SETTING THE E-BRAKE genius..... note to self, find level ground next time.

Always carry a compressor and tire plug tool with plugs..... duh.
