Post Distributor Rotor question

Should there be electrical continuaity with the rotor out of the distributor from the center of the rotor to the outer edge conductor on the rotor? Does it form a conection when the rotor spins? Is there ever any connection between the two? Any input on how a rotor works is appreciated. Thanks.

Absolutely. The spinning rotor is what "distributes" the spark from the coil around to the perimeter contacts in the cap that lead to the plugs.
