Default 86 factory widebody

I have an 86 factory wide body 911, non turbo. I'm thinking of selling it but need a value range first. I was told that in "86 very few factory widebody models were imported to the states, thus raising the value.
Any info appreciated.
The car is in great shape, garaged and covered. 70k miles. All original.
Thanks!

Isn't that option 491? My neighbor bought a cab factory wide for 22K about two years ago. Very nice condition. I believe it to be an '85. They do have a following and they are a neat looking car. There is a wide body group on Yahoo.

Just because it can be "valued" in the $20-30K range means it will sell or sell quickly... Lots of nice cars just "sitting" out there waiting to be sold.

It's a coupe with a sunroof.
Thanks for the replies.
So the next question is, does anyone think that holding on to it for a number of years from now would increase or decrease the value...?

I think decrease - there r just too many options out there when you in the > $30k range.

Here is one more thing......I think. The Turbo Look is neat looking, but, is slower than the regular Carrera. Its the weight issue.

Define "number of years"

If the answer is 3 or 5 then I would say decrease or stay the same.

If the answer is 20 or 30 then I think it would be worth more. Of course the dollar will be worth less via inflation too.

Its probably not a wise investment anyway you slice the pie.

The most rare of the '86 factory widebody is the Targa.
I think that less than a hundred were built.
A very expensive option.

Good luck,

Gerry

Hmmm... I looked pretty closely at an 86 M491 Targa when I bought my 993. I decided the more modern car would make a better DD if pressed into it. It was a sexy car, though. Black on black.

I owned an '84 factory widebody coupe for a few years and while I think they may be close to hitting the bottom of their depreciation curve, I don't think they will appreciate much, if at all. If you like/want one, buy it, drive it and enjoy it - but not as an "investment".

Had an 85 triple black, sold for 28,500 in 1995. Had an 88 Cab, white with blue, sold for 35,000 in 2001.

If you are going to get a wide body, get a returbo. You won't regret it.
