Default After-market Chain Tensioner kits???

I've hunted down the Chain tensioner postings and found no clue on this. I want to upgrade to the kit, but have found you can get an aftermarket kit with more or less the cover and tensioner oem and the gaskets and hoses otherwise??? Not quite clear on what's oem or not.

Does anybody know anything about the difference in the kits or any problems?

i bought my car with it .. but all my pieces were the dichromate ( the yelow/ gold colour ) and it looks really nice. Other than that I know nothing of the different kits . The guy I get my stuff from has it for over 700 so that looks like a good deal as long as it is not chineese knock off junk.

Give Don at EBS Racing a call. He is great to deal with and prices have always been great. They only deal with Porsche parts so know what they are talking about. www.ebsracing.com No affiliation and bought most of my parts from them when I did my rebuild

Very interesting. Even EBS racing has the same kit as on Ebay. It's the hoes connectors and tube coler that look the same. Not sure that it makes a difference. Does anybody else have the connectors like shown in the link at the top?

That's the same kit I used; no issues at all, fit perfectly.

Don't see what the difference is between the kits. I want to deal with someone that specializes in Porsche parts and can call to get support if needed. EBS also has a full machine shop to go along with the part sales and is just for Porsche as well. Also make sure you get a quote for the parts as I have found that what I was quoted was a better price than listed on the web site.

If you are comfortable getting it from a parts house then go for the set on Ebay

I updated my chain tensioners to the Carrera chain tensioner updated kit. I was told that only the chain tensioner covers were OEM parts and all the other parts were remanufacture parts.

Just buying OEM tensioners can cost just as much as a complete updated kit.
Go to pelican parts, good source for pricing.

I had to replace my left cam oil line after several months, because I got a leak at the banjo fitting. That's when I was told by my Technician that most of
the parts with the updated kits are remanufacture parts.

Buy from a reputable seller - Pelican, EBS, and you won't have that niggling doubt in the back of your mind. Believe it or not I have purchase from both (when the exchange rate was in my favour). Have great respect for EBS, even passed me on to another supplier when this was the best solution (camshafts).
