It looks to be set at U.S. spec height for the 911SC. The reason the car was raised for U.S. import, as you probably already know, was to comply with U.S. bumper height requirements. Lowering will help the feel of the car, but there are so many other things that you can do, I see no reason to not dig in, sort the car out, and develop a comprehensive list of repairs and mods. Then prioritize the items how you want. I'd lean toward safety and reliability first, but others will prioritize other things which is OK. To each his own.

There is a stock U.S. 911SC in the Illustrated Porsche Buyer's Guide. I want to say it's Chuck Gilpin's 911, but I don't remember since it's been so long. Anyway I studied it before lowering my 911SC back in the day. I'll find it so we can have some laughs at the stock U.S. spec ride height. I think a few guys might be shocked.

Top of frt wheel arch to the ground should be 25.5" and rear 25". I'll never understand why Porsche made the frt ride height so easy to adjust and the rear so difficult. If they would have simply installed the adjustable trailing arms at the factory, all would be right with the world!! Agree with others, get some miles on her and try not to replace things that are working properly. If it ain't broke..... well you know the rest. A quick check of the VIN will tell you if it's U.S. or ROW version. Go pick-up the latest version of 'Original 911' while you're at it. Welcome to the addiction!! I love the early turbo tail, my personal favorite!

I don't think that is a turbo tail. It is a Carrera tail, ot "tea table", It is similar to the early turbos, but different. I really like it as well!
+1 Butzip
That tail looks really good on a targa IMHO.

The early Turbos didn't have an intercooler. They had a sort of tail that looks like the Weissach tail, with an extra vent in the back. The "Carrera" tail with the raised air intake came out in 1984, much later. I think BZ may be right about comparing it to the early Turbo tail. You know what though, it looks like the early Carrera tail which came out prior to the 911SC.

Hi from South Australia and a 78sc owner..they go well if maintained and the smell of new leather on seats is wonderful when you get in..here we can register on historic club plates on anything 30 years older or more and for just $100 a year. it gives us 90 cruise days a year which is fine for club runs.
The sc is ageing as well as as a Barossa Valley red wine from Sth Aus, Cheers, rodney911
