Default '89 3.2 Cab Price Check

I am looking to purchase my first Porsche. I spoke with a reputable Porsche repair shop owner and he referred me to one of his customers who's looking to sell an '89 red cab, cashmere interior, black top with 30,000 miles - all records. The Porsche shop told me the car was one of the nicest 3.2's he's worked on in the past few years. Let's assume the mileage is correct and the condition is as stated - what do you think is a reasonable (non-insulting) buying price given todays 911 market. I know what the seller is asking but don't want to taint your feedback. I have read a number of posts that warn about over priced garage queens so that's a concern. I plan to drive it tomorrow and if I like it make an offer contigent on results of a PPI. I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks for your help!

Its got all the right ingredients...red/cashmere and its a cab with 30k miles!(will always have a good resale, thats why your looking at it) I bet he's asking bout 35k. I'd say 30k is a good offer.

+1 - and IMHO, "ask" will be $35K and sell will be north of $30K...

Good luck!

25 BID and maybe I would pay 26. Unless you need a garage queen you can go up a few miles and save 5 k.

Not sure how you know its a steal without seeing the car now would I say 26 is a steal. Red g50 cab is not exactly a needle in a haystack.

We are all assuming its an excellent example like whiteknee said. Your right, red g50 cab is not a needle in a haystack, however red/cashemere is a pretty rare combo(most were red/black) and the operative words on this discussion are "low miles".

Thanks to everyone for your help with the price range. You guys are good! He is asking $35K. I won't see the car until tomorrow. I do have several pictures but can't seem to reduce their size to meet Rennlist requirements. I was surprised to learn that this will only bump my insurance by $350/yr which is a relief considering I have 2 teenage drivers in the family. Input from others is welcome as I won't be talking numbers until Friday or so, provided the car is as nice as advertised.

Well, if you like the idea of a black over burgundy '84 Cab that's at 101k, with a new top, recent suspension, brakes, trans rebuild, clutch, wheels, tires, etc etc, let me know. There's a good chance I'll be listing her up in the next month, and she'll be less than $30k, you can be sure.

As for the car in question, she sounds very nice, and best of luck with the purchase!
