This car is nothing like what they claim it is

Not to mention the vin numbes in the door jamb sticker have obviously been scratched out.

Agreed, it looks a little fishy, but I hate to admit I actually like it....aside from the yellow bits in the interior I think its cool! It looks like it actually does have a 3.6L conversion done, it probably is pretty fun to drive.

A little digging & this is the dealer:

SLT Automobiles

But he doesn't list the Speedster. That VIN sticker looks like it was peeled off & then reglued. It ripped at the perforations.

he lists a cool older Maser '71 Indy.

You'd be very very hard pressed to peel that sticker off and have it even close it intact, its designed to fall apart when you try to peel it for obvious reasons. It looks to me like the perforations for the vin number were intentionally scratched out so you could not read it, especially since it does not match the other vin number.

I am NOT saying this dealer did that, I want to be clear here. I am saying that it looks to me like the seller has NO idea what this car is or was and does not know much about Porsches in general, and I simply found the add pretty pathetic.

It actually looks like the sticker was taped during repaint & that pulled the perf part off. His vin # appears euro but he probably (stupidly) just wrote down the chassis vin. It matches (or appears to) if you read it carefully except for the ZZ part which would be the parts # vin. You'd think the proper US vin would be on the paperwork though . . .

The more I look at that sticker the more I believe someone scratched out the vin number.

Naa that car was stolen out of my garage in Santa Monica back in 1997. My ex was a triathlete and she used to get up every morning at 5:30 to train before work. I used to get up and surf just about every morning too. Someone cased the house and knew we were gone each morning, because one day when I got back from the waves and I popped the garage to put my board and suit away the car and my bike were gone.

The CHP called me the next day and said they found the car, stripped and sprayed down with WD40 and burned. They said they probably stripped it in a big truck while moving and then dumped it out in El Monte. They never found the bike, CHP suspected it was in Mexico within hours. USAA treated me very well and I moved on. The speedy was one of my favoirte 911's but in the end its just a car.
