Related Pontiac Solstice
Saturn Sky

ConceptOn February 1, 2006, Opel issued a press release announcing the upcoming production of a new Opel GT, as a likely 2007 model. The car shares the GM Kappa platform with the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky. Unlike its platform mates, the 2.0 L, 194 kW (263.8 PS; 260.2 hp) direct injection turbocharged Ecotec four-cylinder engine is the only engine being offered. It also features 18-inch alloy wheels and a folding cloth top similar to those found on the Solstice and the Sky. Since GM's Saturn division already shares models with Opel, the GT is in fact Opel's version of the Saturn Sky. The car replaced the Opel Speedster in the European lineup; however, it is not sold in right-hand drive in the UK, thus there is no replacement for the Vauxhall VX220. The situation is similar to Holden in Australia, as the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice are produced at a North American plant, which does not have the necessary tooling for producing right-hand drive vehicles

Uuugghh, I've got lots of opinions on this, but this is sure to go over like a turd...
The 84-89' Carrera is an old car, bottom line. From my perspective these aren't "daily driver" catch-all caliber cars. Ergonomics= fail. HVAC= afterthought. This is truly a car from the 80's and the automobile in general has evolved LIGHTYEARS since then. A daily driver 911 is a 996.
That said, my 88' coupe is reliable and awesome. An epic and engaging driving machine. The classic 911 is sublime.
The Saturn Sky is a great looking car, but much to small for many "normal" sized adult males to pilot, really, physically unable to operate the vehicle= fail.
BMW 'M' Roadster???
Ferocious power to weight ratio.
Enough luggage space (even w/ the top down) to accommodate days worth of traveling.
Tall people actually fit.
Modern ergonomics and design criteria.
Preowned values now in the high $20's.

Just a thought...

GM can "test and tune" these all day long at the 'ring, and you'll still not match the capability of an 80's Carrera on the track.

The blower means nothing, except red light to red light, perhaps.

The A/C is better on the Saturn, I'm sure.
