Default Time to address the German Auto Dismantler problems - Please Read -

Hello Rennlisters,

As many will remember I posted a bit ago about the problems we where having with Joe Cogbill, III and German Auto Dismantlers, Inc.

Here is a recap to remind everyone though. Back in June of 2008 Joe contract us here at Carquip to drop ship a transaxle directly to his customer in Illinois. I personally dealt with this, and unfornately did not know of the sorted past issues with dealing with German Auto Dismantlers.

I am sure that it will come as no surprise that we have never received payment on this invoice. Total amount of the Invoice? $3400.00

After many conversations, broken promises to pay, we decided to take him to court. A decision was rendered in our favor, however, as one might suspect, we still have not been paid.

After taking a plane from Colorado to Georgia, and having to go to court in Georgia, only to find out that even though we won our case, totaling $4218.50, we now had no way to enforce the judgement, is very upsetting.

At this point we don't really care about the money any longer, we are determined to see this man and his bad dealings taken care of once and for all.

After talking to the DA here in Colorado, we have been referred to the FBI in Gainsville to have Federal Charges levied again Joe Cogbill, III and German Auto Dismantlers, Inc. As this crime has taken place across state lines, it fall to them to bring charges against this company.

I have spoken to the FBI in Atlanta just a few moments ago. The agent has asked that I pass this information on to the Porsche Community, so here it is.

If you have been wronged in the past by German Auto Dismantlers, and Joe Cogbill, III, and wish to see him brought to justice here is the way to make this happen. Contact the Gainsville Branch office of the FBI, and tell them what has happened. The agent that I spoke with said the more people that called the better chance we would have of the FBI taking this case and seeing that the full weight of the FBI was brought to bear on Joe Cogbill.

We as a community have always tried to warn each other about people who sought to do us harm, or take advantage of us. German Auto Dismantlers, Inc. has long been one of the companies that we have all complained about. I myself received several phone calls from people and companies saying that he had cost them much more money then what he took me for, some as much as $20,000 at a crack. I realize that most people do not want to get involved in things like this, and I wish that I never had to be a part of this myself, but at this point, enough is enough, someone has to stand and say this is wrong, and I am not going to allow this to continue to happen.

Please, if you have ever had an issue with this company, or been taken advantage of, or received a bad check from, or have any information that would be helpful to the FBI, please contact the Gainsville Branch office of the FBI, at the following number, (770) 534-5111. Ask to speak with an agent and give your testimony about what happened to you.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me about, or if there is anything that I can ever do to help any of you, please do not hesitate to contact me at the below phone numbers.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you would please follow up with me if you have taken steps to call the FBI so that I can keep a record of how things are progressing.

Warmest Regards,

Erik Johnson

Man I am sorry. My shop has done business with you guys and it has been great. G.A.D needs to respond for themselves. Things are tough all over and if this guy is in rough shape he could gain support by standing up and being truthful.

You can call the county sheriff where he is located and find out how to levy his bank accounts. If you know which bank he uses, and serve the bank with the lein, they will take whatever money is there to pay off your judgment. Sorry, I forget the exact term used for this type of action.

Wow, sorry that you had (have) to undergo such a frustrating experience. Thank you, though, for putting this up. The P-car community is not a huge one (at least for the wrench-turning owners), and posts like this are both helpful to us as well as punitive to jerks like them. Best of luck to you; may you prevail and they suffer the full consequences of their dishonesty.

Good luck and thank you for not just letting this issue quietly slide into the archives. It is very useful that we can all use this place to get insight with respect to who to deal with and who not to deal with. I'm sure your diligence and postings will save others that same pain and cost you have suffered.

Wayne will probably bounce it. He's been threatened with slander lawsuits and such when threads such as this get posted. The difference here, is there is a verdict arrived at in court that would seem to take any such threats off the table. But, he probably would kill it anyway.

It's called a Writ of Execution. It's signed by the judge. Erik could then hire a justice of the peace (sheriff, marshall, etc.) to present it to a bank manager to remove funds from the judgement debtors (G.A.D.) account.

If no cash is available a lien can be attached to any real property. (car, house, etc.)

The sad thing is a friend of mine has passed, as he would love to be apart of this (I too have been ripped of by this lying POS) and this would have made him feel better...

Can you contact the publications that he advertises in and advise them that they assist him in his acts? could you then sue them if they continue to run ads?

Better still, run an ad in one of his advertising publications stating the facts and looking for additional people to call the FBI and/or file a class action. A class action might produce enough money to go in and take inventory. At the least this might educate those who need to know. In this situation there is a need to know. As you have done here, there is a moral obligation for you to attempt to protect the lambs.

If you do not mind, will you describe your company and its services or products so that others and my self can do business with you when we can. A contact email address would be handy.-------note that this is a member request-----

I agree with jakeflyer and the rest of these posters. I live in middle Ga, and wanted to do buisness with these guys. Thought I could drive up one day and pick out what I wanted! I actually believed, but don't know for fact that they bought on salvage the 911 that I crashed and totaled. But thanks to this board and people who took the time and put forth the effort, I have not dealt with them. So, on this father's day, I offer a sincere thanks. I owe my dad a great deal for the things he helped me do. Without his advice and help I could not be where I am. He had to do it. You did not. But you wanted to do what was right, and wanted to make sure no one else got screwed. Thanks. If there is any way I can do buisness with you I will. Again thanks for putting forth the effort to "fight the good fight", and for not giving up. I believe we all are better for it. Mark

Default Updated information for contact person with FBI

Hey there everyone,

Here is the name of the Special Agent that will be collecting information to present to the State's Attorney. It should be noted that at present an official investigation is not taking place, however the more people that call this gentleman the better chance we have of getting a formal investigation initiated.

Thank you everyone for your help with this.

Special Agent Barry Witrick
FBI
(770) 297-5961

If you do not get him directly, please leave a message for him so that he can give you a call back.

Warmest Regards,

Wow, sorry to hear that so many have had bad dealings with GAD and Joe. I guess I am in the minority here but I have done several transactions with Joe both as a buyer and a seller and my experiences were all positive.
