any non 911 uses of the flat six out there?

Subaru has had a flat six for years. I wouldn't say its licensed from Porsche, but it is used for the same advantages: low CofG, and tight packaging. I would not even closely compare the two sans architecture. The 911 six was originally designed after aircraft technology.
The VW van has a twin turbo 993 (GT3) drivetrain and suspension. Of all the VW designs of the time, a Karmann Ghia was more aerodynamic than a beetle but heavier. The Bus was the most aero of the siblings. The closest you can come to driving a loaf of bread.

Not as high revving, the take off redline is at 2875, rated output is 300HP, 520 cubic inch displacement. This and the engine in our 911 are my favorite noise makers.
At 2850 it sounds tight.

My brother in law used to have a sporty Subuaru model that had, I think, a 6 cylinder Subaru boxer engine in it. Not sure if he really knew, but he claimed it was a design licensed from Porsche. It was a great car, although heavier than a 911. The engine gave it a lower center of gravity than it would have had with a straight or V-6.--me
Subaru's oft lamented (but IMHO brilliant) SVX had a flat six.--Rod
Yeah, that's the one. It was a great car until the deer ran across the road.
