I'm considering an early 70s 911 in the Northamption, Massachusetts area. I'm not too familiar with the geography. Does anyone have recommendations for PPI in the Northamption area?
Musante Motorsports, also in CT.
Eurotech in Framingham MA (A bit further than the 2 above).
Dan Jacobs / Hairy Dog Grrrage (even further than the 3 above) in Oxford, CT
Thanks for the recommendations. I've heard of Musante...any thoughts about them? I guess the only concern is that this is an older 911 with MFI and unsure about how much knowledge there is out there on MFI and older 911s.
Or try European Performance Engineering. They are in Natick, MA, they did years of service on my car before I bought it from the previous owner. Highly recommend they know aircooled Porsches well!
Musante is about 5 minutes from my house and I know Chris well. He and his techs specialize in early 911s. 70's MFI cars are right in their 'wheel-house'. Atuomobile Associates in Canton, CT Scott and Kenny will take care of you as well. These are the 2 best indy shops in northern CT. Dan Jacobs, mentioned, is also tops but approx. 1.5hr south. North Hampton is approx. 25 minutes north of me I might be able to check it out for you. I won't be able to do a leak down or compression at the sellers house but I can evaluate everything else.
If you want a general idea of body/paint quality and correctness, how it runs and drives, I have a friend in Easthampton, MA that could do that. 413-527-8303, Steve. He knows early 911s reasonably well but is not a total OCD expert that some of the other pros mentioned are. He has done several restorations and builds on 911s and 914-6s and knows most of the details. Currently has a '67S soft targa in for some involved detail work.
No offense to richster, but I wouldn't go to a dealer for an older car like this. I would do one of the local places like EPE. I don't know if the techs have the training needed for MFI.

+1 go with an independent on this inspection. More knowledge on the older 911's, than a dealership dealing mainly with 997, 996, boxster etc.
