Post Firing order 70 911

I need to locate #1 cyliner at the distributer (Marelli 70 911T). I used the compression tester on #1 cylinder but I'm not real confident that the rotor is pointing to #1. Can someone trace the #1 wire up to the cap and locate it from the clip. I did a static timing but it seemed to be off, not at TDC.

Thanks

if you have a compression tester with a seperate hose, screw the hose in #1 and turn the engine clockwise until you hear a hiss of air out of the hose. that means it's coming up to TDC. turn slowly until the Z1 on the pulley lines up with the split of the case. that will be #1 TDC. the rotor will now be pointing to #1 plug wire. 162435 clockwise up to 1977.
