Default Should I look into this 911 further ?

Found a 911. Here are the details

1976
Guards Red
134K

$10,995

The car has a slant nose package on it. But no records at all. And it has seat covers so the seats may be torn up.

From your description, I wouldn't even bother wasting my time.

Nice SC coupe in my area for 13k, he was asking 18k back in August.

Engine rebuilt at European performance in Raleigh.

I think there are better deals out there. It may be possible to get into a decent (but not great) SC or Carrera for that money (well probably a little more...). I believe that ’76 was the first year for the fully galvanized bodies (or was it ’77 – maybe someone will confirm). However, at that age, you cannot take it for granted that the body will be OK.

Summary:

1) 1976 – 2.7 liter mag case with the potential liabilities induced by the early emissions equipment. Not the most robust 911 set-up.

2) 134K – not particularly high mileage for the chassis, but it would be high for a 2.7 – very likely may have been rebuilt. If so, it will be CRITICAL to asses the quality of the work done.

3) Slant nose – no chance of it being factory for a ’76 – to me this item would be a negative.

4) No records - always a negative...

It also has a huge whale tail that I dont think was original. It looks like the one off a 993 Turbo.

The Slant Nose was an option for the Turbo's or Carrera starting in I believe 86

haha its funny how in that CL post for that SC the guy says "This is the last year of the horizonial six cylinder engine" Hmm pretty sure they are still making a horizontal 6 to date. Strage my car must have a v6! yes that it! Im sure he means of the 3.0l but it was still a funny choice of words. Sorry im bored
