Best way to remove 3M carpet adhesive over spray
Installed my new carpet yesterday, everything turned out pretty good.
Except there are a couple of places that I over sprayed the 3M adhesive onto the carpet.
What would be the best way to remove that?
Phil

For small areas hit with overspray, there's a citrus equivalent to the "Goof Off" product. You can find it at any WalMart in the paint section, most likely sitting right next to it. This citrus-smelling stuff is a bit milder and a great deal less noxious smelling than Goof Off, but still works great for removing adheasives.

Most auto paint suppliers have adhesive remover. I recommend that over the lacquer thinner. Sometimes the lacquer thinner will bleach out the carpet and really look bad. The adhesive remover is like a solvent and only removes the adhesive. however, what ever you use, test a piece of carpet with the cheical pior to using on the installed piece. Some products say one thing and another may happen.

LAQUER THINNER IS EXTREMELY HARSH , NOT TO MENTION CARCENOGENIC.
oops sorry
i would use that last and for gods sake don't spill any on your paint.

Thanks for all the feedback, I do have the 3M adhesive remover. This is what I used to remove all the old adhesive before I had the rollbar welded in.
So I will test some of these on carpet scraps.

When I re-carpeted my 87 911, I used a product called De-Solv-it and it worked great to remove the overspray. Not caustic and it cleans up with soap and water. It is a citrus based cleaner and it lists Adhesives, Crayon, Gum, Grease, Oil, Tar & more on the label.
I first used it 10 years ago to remove spray paint grafitti off of a Mercedes Benz that was parked on the street overnight and all I did was spray it on, wait 10-15 min. and wiped it and the spray paint off with a microfiber towel. AMAZING! I then used it on a vandalized painted wooden sign that had been spray painted with florescent orange spray paint. Sprayed De-Solv-it on, waited and washed it off with a spray from the garden hose attachment.
I get it at Ace and it is the best product. Not cheap. I keep one bottle under each sink and one bottle in the Garage at all times. No affiliation!
