Anyone have a 2.7 with RS Pistons S-cam Mech Injection conversion?

I wanted to touch base with anyone else who has this conversion on their 2.7s. I still haven't taken delivery of my 'new' car (shippers are killing me
) and wanted to guage the level of satisfaction with the conversion. It seems that the two recommended ways to go (by Bruce Anderson) are either:
1. Webers, E cams and RS pistons/cylinders OR
2. Mech Injection, S cams and RS pistons/cylinders
Basically I wanted to find out from folks what they thought of the power, drive-ability (is it peaky) and how do you pass emissions testing with this conversion?
Oh, it also has the 74 headers and sport muffler.
Thanks

I am involved with a 2.7 with mech injection and Solex cams, with 9.3:1 compression. Haven't gotten it together yet but have been told this is the best combination. Check with Galen Bieker of Werks II in Burbank,CA whose father turned me on to this combination. I am anxious but so are my other priorities, so the project is on hold indefinitely.

Ron,
Interesting on your compression ratio. I didn't mention but mine is 9.8:1. I have a friend with 11.x:1 and twin spark, quite a monster indeed!
Good luck with the project.

Lefty:
I was planning to use twin plug heads and had them
machined, but everyone talked me out of it, since the engine was going into a 914/6. I was warned that I was creating a monster that might bite me with such a light car. Additionally, cost-benefit considerations of the twin plug seemed hard to justify. So I sold the heads and did another set of single plug.
Then some dork ran into the rear end of the car
and that put the project on hold while I learn to walk again. Such is life.

Ron,
Very bad luck. Sorry to hear that. Those 914s are great track and autoX cars, I'm sure you'll be happy when you finally get it done. LEt us know how things are going once in a while.
Take care,
Tristan

I built two 2.7 liter engines for my 914/6. One was an 8.5:1 CR engine using the normal 90 mm Euro RS pistons and cylinders, the other had the racing 10.4:1 90 mm Mahle piston and cylinder set. The 10.4:1` engine was twin plug. Both engines used 'S' cams and 40 mm Webers. The 8.5 engine had 36/35 intake ports the 10.4 38/37 ports, 36 mm venturis on both engines.
I think the 10.4:1 engine made a little more power, maybe 15-20 HP or so and had better throttle response, they were both wonderful engines for a 914/6. I didn't find them peaky at all but I like to rev the engine...
YOU can NEVER have too much power

Cupcar:
Where in California are you? I'm in Sunnyvale. I had my hopes up for those 10.4:1 p/c and twin plugs for exactly the same reason: throttle response. But I abandoned them when I sold the heads and went to single plug. With MFI and higher compression, maybe the throttle response will be good as well. I would like to know more of your experience with both engines, as mine has yet to go to the cryogenics shop and could be modified further.
