Want to buy 911 to "trick" out" with motor mods etc.
What would be the best model to purchase if I want to modify it. I love the 74 rs but an original, if u can find one is too expensive.
I also like the SC or the 87-89 911. What would be the strongest model to do performance upgrades on.
If i go with the 87-89 model I was thinking of dropping in a 3.8L motor.
What do u guys think.
I guess ultimately I am looking for a 911 with a lot more raw and visceral feel than what my 996 gives me. I don't mind doing perfromane upgrades on the an older model to give me that, unless u feel that the stock older units already give u that.
Let me know. I appreciate your expertise in advance.
Thanks.

Thanks guys that helps me out.
I have thought of a Turbo, my tuner suggests the same thing..I know it is easier to do performance mods on the Turbo...but i wanted the feel of a NA motor, to always feel the power...I don't know I just think that for instance the GT3 which is NA is more of a raw-er feeling car than the new Turbo..at least that's what I get from reading the magazine articles.

Actually, if you want raw, forget any of the more civilized newer/newest turbo's, take a look at the 78-79 (US model) turbo's, when they had the intercooled 3.3L engine and went to the 930 brakes (production version of 917 brakes).
