Does anyone have placement measurements, better yet a template, for the mounting position of the "911SC" emblem on the engine lid of a 1980 Weissach coupe fitted with the original factory-installed whale tail? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since I added the tail to my car I've been missing the ID rear badge. The Weissach car had a whale tail & emblem, and I figure that's probably the best place to put my emblem. I bought some super-thin two-sided adhesive tape, and I've cut the five mounting pins off the emblem, I can find lid center, but I have no way of knowing what the correct distance is between the lid's lip and the seal between the tail and lid.
From memory I think the emblem is halfway between the lower lip and the seal for the tail, but...

Thanks, guys! That gives me some ideas. Doug, the "Visok" original car looks like the emblem is a little closer to the lower lip than the rusnak Carrera badge. I think that, because the 911SC badge is on two levels, that I'll use painters tape to set up the Carrera distances, and put the SC badge at that point, then take a picture of it.
Maybe someone can photoshop my picture side by side with the platinum metallic car and see how it looks. It's difficult because the Weissach tail is one piece, and mine is the later two-piece unit. Rusnak - is your Carrera emblem at the 17.5 cm distance? For some reason it looks higher than that.

Hi Pete,
You have a sharp eye! I think the Visok car has a one piece tail. For some reason it looks like the turbo in the diagram, but I can't say for sure. The turbo one is 10.5 cm from the bottom edge, so it is lower by 7 cm.
My "Carrera" badge is placed at just under 7" or 17.5 cm. I took measurements from the factory position before having the tail painted. I remember the last time I posted this on Pelican, Wil Fertch pointed out that 7" would make the badge .1 inch too high.

Now all we have to do is figure out if I should set up the SC emblem at 10.5 cm on the "SC" part, or the "911" part
. I think I'll set it where it looks good to my eye, post a pic and hopefully Doug can put my pic next to the Plat Met car for comparison...

I know that it's not a Weissach car, doesn't even have a Weissach tail, but I want to get as close to where Porsche thinks the emblem should be as possible. I've seen various emblems stuck in all kinds of weird places (mostly the post body shop application of the stick on "Carrera" emblem), and I want to try to do this right. Thanks for the help, diagrams, etc, etc.!!! The emblem is there courtesy of two small pieces of masking tape - I've outlined this position with blue painter's tape...
