Default Greetings

Hello All--

I have been lurking around this site for a long time and gleaning
a wealth of knowledge about Porsche as a whole.

I have been looking for a 2005/2006 997 for the last six months
and have found what appears to be a very likely candidate, however,
a couple of questions exist.

It is a 2005 997C2, 6 -spd, which is at a Porsche dealer--24k miles and
a CPO. I have driven it a couple of times however two issues
concern me:
(1) The idle seems quite rough at a stop--both when the engine is
warm and cold--is this typical of the flat six? (I also have a 2007
530i which is extremely smooth at all times).

(2) Can the dealer easily provide the over-rev history / engine history?

Thank you in advance.

well you couldn't have lurked that long or you would know the right forum to be in

they could tell you , wether they choose to is another matter. You may want to check out the water cooled 997 forum for more specifics.

A rough idle in a 997? For me, that would not be a good sign but my newest 911 is 29 years old and the 997 is as foreign to me as a BMW.

I have 2007 997...smooth as silk. Something is wrong if its idling rough. It maybe a simple fix...take it to a mechanic. Yes, they should be able to give you a read out on the dme and how many times it got overrev...

All the 997's that i have driven are very smooth. Once you find a nice one you will not be disappointed these are amazing cars and the "S" is a must in my opinion.
