Default Precious Metal.....in 7.5 X 17 and 9 X 17 sizes...

I'm pretty pumped. After a long wait, my new wheels will be shipping to me quite soon. Anyone who is looking for a HIGH QUALITY (not cast) 17" alternative to an old, rotting, stock set of Fuchs needs to look no further. Pics of mine in RSR before assembly are below. Details on the product can be found here:

Beautiful.

(And forged, not cast -- just like the originals.)

Valve stem holes are extra, and I just couldn't afford them right now.

That's just a mock-up showing my center under a random outer lip. They should be assembled this weekend and on their way next week.

Great news Ed, I know you've been itchin' for those wheels - glad they're nearly in your possession.

Psst, BTW, 3/22 is my birthday...

Best wishes, Ruby's gonna look great in her new sexy high-heels!

I don't want to even think about what it will be like to take them to the tire shop. Once I hit a piece of angle iron on I-5 and had to buy a new tire at the "Walmarts" in Pleasonton. I got a nice little crease on the wheel lip that way.

IMO, one should use the same care in choosing a tire mounting location as they do in choosing a doctor. I would never choose the most convenient or the first one I see. There are a lot of expensive wheels in circulation, and some tire shops know how to do these things.

I've heard horror stories of Discount tire stores. But, I used to use one right near my house in DFW. They were on the way to Texas Motor Speedway, and saw a lot of exotic cars in for tire changes, and knew what to do. For instance, one day a truck full of Lambos on their way to a day of track testing pulled up to get track tires mounted. Out of 24 wheels, not one was damaged on both ends of the mounting. I had a number of changes done too.

I'm going to use care in determining who in San Diego will mount my tires on these wheels.

Fred, as you know, this has been a long journey. I'm really optimistic that 3/22 gives us more than enough time...

That is some wise advice. I was almost a few hundred miles from home, facing San Francisco streets and potholes, and my girlfriend was looking forward to eating at Alioto's for her birthday. So long story short, sacrifices had to be made.

The other side of the coin in an emergency is to pop out your cell phone or camera and snap a pic or two in front of the manager or the tire guy. Then, spectate during the process. Its amazing how much more care will be taken.
