Yup, that was the bottom of the market...you missed it. A year or two ago lots of the 'collector car buyers' articles in magazines started the 'buy it now' comment on SC's etc. The most recent articles have noted a 10% annual increase in SC value.
You can still find SC's in the 12k or so market but they will need work you may not want to pay for as one thing leads to another.
Smart money buys about 20k +/- with the work done, rebuilt top end, tranny work, clutch etc.
You can choose to believe otherwise but the guys telling you this stuff ain't making it up.

But to take it to even street restored level, with me doing everything but laying down the paint? $10K+ easy. Turn it all over to a retail level shop? $25K+ easy.
So it's sitting around with no purpose in life until someone needs a donor shell for a Spec 911 racer.

Yeah, it'd be fun to hang out with a fellow Porschephile. Let me know.
Back on topic...Motronic. I forgot. I love me some Motronic.

I have always thought the 1986 models were the ONES. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Well with the exception of the 1994 PearlEssence Turbo Carrera . Must have been at least 6 or 10 of them made . I think I have seen one for sale and while I dont remember exactly it seems it was $90 +.

'86 Carreras are the Cat's Meow! Absolutely wonderful cars.

i own both, you will need to drive a couple sc's, and a couple of carrera's to get your own opinion. and agreed with pete, ppi and records. i like carrera tensioners, but most sc's have had this done. i like motronic over cis. i like the sc's lighter weight and seem for simplicity. again, your opinion will have to prevail so go drive them and get a ppi and records. i agree with others as well, all 911's of this era in question are 20-25grand cars, one way or another.
