Ah Summer! It's that time of year when a young man's thoughts turn to... AIR CONDITIONING!!!
I contacted Glacier Gold about their R12A. The cost is $20.25 per can and hose kit is $33.95 plus GST tax. Apparently, you don't need as much of the R12A due to its increased efficiency. I asked them if using their product to "top off" my existing R12 was OK. Their reply was it was not recommended, but had been done. My 911 is ready for its 2-3 year A/C recharge. Checked it just yesterday (local temp hit 98 here!) and the temp at the vent was just slightly cooler than ambient. I'm seriously considering the R12A, mostly due to cost, but also the claimed increased efficiency. Has anyone else tried this yet? I'm curious about the actual results.
