Default 84-86 Fuel Pressure Regulator Guage

Anyone in SoCal, L.A. County or OC area have a Fuel Pressure Regulator Guage?

I suspect some fuel pressure issues and was wondering if anyone had a Guage I can borrow.

Or

If anyone has made a guage. I have spare Air Pressure Guage that can be fitted with a hose and fitting for the test port. Has anyone done this?

TIA

I ordered a new cap for the test port, and I tapped the old one for a 1/8 inch NPT male 0-60 psi gauge.
It worked very well, and I think might be the cheapest route.
I never got it back from the guy who has it now, otherwise I'd send it to you.

draco, if you strike out I can send you mine. The gauge itself sometimes sticks though. Hard to get all of the gas out afterwards, so it gums up a little.

Isn't that just a $20.00 PepBoys item? I see it all the time in the specialty tool isle. Should screw right on.

I have to leave my key in the "on" position for about 10 seconds prior to tapping the key to get my car to fire right up. I'm guessing the pressure is low.

Napa Auto has the corrct fittings too. They let me go back to their parts warehouse isle with my flashlight. I rummaged for a good 30 mins.

doug, you know that your fuel pump only runs when they flywheel is turning?

you guys are saying pep boys and nappa have fittings that fit the rail on a motronic car? anyone have a picture?
the reason I ask is this...

It is a metric inverse flare. It is next to impossible to find an adapter for it to go to AN. Try Baum tool, I think they have a fuel pressure tester.

Then why is my system working? If I go right to taping the key it doesn't fire right up.... If I let the key sit in the on position it fires right up. I figured the noice I was hearing was the fuel pump bringing up the pressure.

Wow,

Thanks fellas,

I will go to Napa and Auto Zone to see if they have those fittings and/or Guage. I don't mind ruining my spare guage so that is no big deal, it's just collect dust anyways.

BTW, do we know the actuall ID on that puppy? Metric?

Doug, you need not worry about your baby . BTW, I just changed my plugs to the NGK Iridiums and before the starter even has time to what seems like a full revolution, she starts right up. The crap Bosch Platinum +4 took three revolutions before starting.

Just had a Brain Fart,

Could I just place a rubber fuel line over the test port maybe 2-3 inches in length as not to be totally off on pressure variance due to the ghetto tool and clamp her down?

Any thoughts?

anything will work as long as it will hold 40 psi.

IDK Doug, but can you honestly say you know what your fuel pump sounds like? Not trying to be a smart *** but it just doesn't run like that. Go listen to yours, will only take a second. Jump the fuse at the fuse box with a hot wire.
you could be hearing the ICV, maybe a fan in the trunk, maybe footwell blowers.

The test post has a ball in it that has to be pushed off it's seal to test, so unless you've got a rubber tube with some sort of something I don't want to know about you are going to need to start with a fitting that opens or pushes back the ball.

J. I totally trust you and all you say. Since it's 80 out right now and the car is just outside the building and it's not even 4:30 yet I'll go listen. BRB.
