911 930S Steering Wheel Reviews
I am considering switching my stock wheel with the 930S steering wheel. I'd appreciate any opinions from those that have them. How do you like them on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best. Also, where did you purchase yor wheel and did you use the additional spacer?
Thanks,

I have the replica 930S wheel. I bought it from AJUSA about six years ago. I'd rate it between 8 to 10, meaning that I intend to keep it on the car until either the car dies, or I die. I didn't buy the spacer, but I'd recommend buying the hub adapter at the same time. Nothing worse than having a slick new steering wheel and not be able to install it.

same as Rusnak, but I got the spacer (approx 3/4"?). I like having the little bit of extra space between my fingers & the control stalks, & the wheel a bit closer to myself. the grip is comfortable & functional for serious use, I also like the 3 spoke layout. I wish it were just slightly larger diameter - maybe halfway from its size to the 3.2 Carrera OEM diam - but that's just me... I've grown to appreciate the large diam 356 wheel & how Porsche devised wheel diam to work with the steering feel of all their street cars. if you can try one before you buy, that should seal it, one way or another.

There are two different variants available. One has a blank center, which you usially put a Porsche badge on. It also has different seams than the other, which has the old fashioned 'horn' icon and a Porsche logo embossed into it. The latter one is considered more authentic, but -- to my eye -- doesn't look as good. Oddly, both are/were made for Porsche by the same manufacturer.
I have the offset spacer (which helps with leg clearance and gauge visibility) and I've been very happy with it. I also have a quick release with mine, which makes it a theft deterrent as well.

I have one on my 87 Carrera, no spacer. It is a great wheel for the track or autocross. The thicker wheel has a much nicer feel then the thin stock one. 9 out of 10

Go for it! I have one in my SC and another in my 951. They add a touch of 'newness' without pimping. Everyone comments on how cool the wheel looks too. As for driving, the grip size suits my medium sized hands very well but the original wheel diameter is still the best match for the cars steering ratio. I make this concession because the 930s REALLY lifts the interior of the car and I love the grip. Got both mine on ebay, one locally in Australia, pulled from a 964, and the other from London which was brand new in box.

I have one with the Porsche insignia embossed into the horn pad leather. How do you guys attach the plastic Porsche emblem to the horn pad? Glue? If so, what kind?

I've had both the AJ USA wheel with plain hub and the Porsche wheel with the embossed hub. I really like the Porsche wheel. I got mine at my local dealer about a year ago, there were a few lwft in the system then. Part Number is 000043161008YR. I took the eccentric spacer off, I like the wheel a little closer to the dash and farther away from me.
I'm 6'3" and with the stock wheel and standard shifter in my 81 911 SC it was hard to shift around my leg, now witht he smaller 930S wheel and factory short shift, no problem whatsoever.
I'd part with my lightly used AJ wheel if interested.

Two holes get drilled in it. The embossed version is generally considered more desirable (although, again, I personally like the look of the actual badge).

Yeah, Jack Olsen's is offset. That looks like the hot setup to me.
I have the colored emblem one. I would highly recommend that you get it, rather than the embossed emblem. It's really attractive. Funny though...I got mine at AJUSA. I didn't know they had the plain one.

Sometimes I think I must be crazy
Ok, I hadn't been sold on the wheel with the emblem because I thought it would obvious that it was glued on and it's about $150 morre than the embossed.
It would drive me crazy if i glued it in place and it was 1/8" off and I'd have to live with in for the rest of my life.
Sounds like the majority likes the the wheel with the emblem, now I just have to get over spending the extra $$$.
Sometimes I think I must be crazy spending over $500 for a steering wheel.....although it could be worse.
I really appreciate the comments from everyone.
