Unhappy Oil Overfill

Made a rookie mistake and overfilled my 1980 911 SC - oil in the airbox, blowing smoke out of exaust are the symptoms. What are my next steps, thanks.

I would drain the appropriate amount of oil, then take apart your air box and start the cleaning.

Default Oil Overfill

Copy what Neri said, but when you drain, try draining from the oil tank, rather than the sump. Luckily you don't have to worry about warming up the engine.

I like Greased Lightning for getting at the grease. New air filter while you're at it of course.

A pretty straight forward iissue ... just use a suction pump to pull from the oil tank through the filler port.

You may want ot invest in a new air filter . Pull the filter and clean up inside. If you really want to get involved you can remove the kidney shaped rubber boot . it is trickey as there are tube on the back but i did mine no problem. Allowed me to clean inside and ouside of that , cleaning up the air plate area and the throtle body.

Then after thatall you can really do is drive. As an added measure you can throw some techron in the tank to help clean up valves etc. A cheap investment that certainly can not hurt.

To follow up on ice's comment, Pep Boys has suction guns that are fitted with a hose on one end and a pull handle on the other. Buy one, replace the hose with a section of 8mm (5/16) fuel hose - clamp it! - that's about 16-18" long. Remove the oil filler cap, ease the hose into the tank and suck out what you need to - if you do this with the engine hot you can do the final top-up at the same time. CAUTION: HOT OIL BURNS!!! Have a drain pan and plenty of rags under the oil filler tube/oil filter area at the ready. After you do this you'll realize how easy it is, 5 minutes max. and no mess.

The plugs should be OK once you've got the oil level where it needs to be. If you need new plugs buy the current version of Bosch W5DCs.

There was a thread on the 944/951 forum touting the virtues of Seafoam!!! just dump a can all over the engine and you will pick up 13.648 rwhp.
I have seen this before and I think pete nailed it.

Dont try to drain ANY oil when it is HOT. Or you will drain the entire contents. Dont ask me how i know.
