To many an air cooled 911 may come to no surprise, but in Mexico things are quite different as the Porsche industry is dominated by water cooled Porsches. From 1954 to 1994 importation of sports and luxury cars was banned in Mexico and Porsche re-entered the Mexican market until 1996 so there is a huge gap of vehicles in Mexican territory... yet the 911 showed up in force, some that were "gray" imported from the 70's and 80's and some that entered due to new laws that permit importation of 30 year ol vehicles... with no further due some of the 911's at this year's Parade...

despite not having an air cooled industry Mexicans have a great sense of correct tunning, heritage and taste... Mexicans prefer correct BBS over cheap copies, OEM over aftermarket...
for example this early 80's 911 in correct Guards Red with oversize Lindsey "Fuchs" in wingless form...
![](http://porschepuebla.homestead.com/files/news5608.jpg)
truly exemplary taste, instead of cheap wheels, overdone body, out of era dd ons, this 911 went classic to the era with tasty mods, IMOV fantastic...
how about this superb build...

this was in early impact bumper 911 that went to a long hood with touches of RSR and 993 engine... I will have all the details of this build later in my own web page...
well I hope you enjoy my reports at:

Many factors add up for great builds and tuning in the Mexican market, we have less resources to mess up, we have euro influence, we take it slow due to money or distance...
I will post some great 911's in the future... but to make my point for now I will show some H2O Porsches...
take this '06 997 S, pristine condition, OEM aero, PCCB's, "20 HRE's with Pirelli Corsa, coilovers, LSD, etc, etc, etc...
![](http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn257/porscheclubpuebla/Porsche%20Parade%20Mexico%202008%20P1/parade062.jpg)
how about a 997TT in rare CGT Silver, full EVOMS700 mechanicals, TA GT aero, HRE's with MIchelin Cups and a myriad of mods...
![](http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn257/porscheclubpuebla/Porsche%20Parade%20Mexico%202008%20P1/parade068.jpg)
or concours winner turned racer...
![](http://porschepuebla.homestead.com/files/news5805.jpg)
so I guess we have the talent perhaps not the all the resources but good handy labor...

Great photos! Where was this parade? I lived in Mexico for 2 years and never saw an air-cooled 911. I will say that Mexicans as a whole have a wonderful appreciation of automobiles and automobile racing. I made many a new friend down there driving around in my lowered VW GTI with its aftermarket exhaust (launched myself off some unmarked and unexpected bumps in the road too). Still miss those days.
