Post A quest for information.

Well....this is my first post so here goes.

I have been driving VW's for years and now I feel a longing to step up and finally look into buying a Porsche. I am looking for websites that have very detailed model info on 1970-1985 911's. I figure I would be better off doing a lot of research.
If you feel like it, post a recommendation or a good tip along with your favorite websites.
Thank you all in advance for any info.

Here again it's basically, "buy the latest model your budget will allow". The model years 1984 and later were improved across the board, 3.2Liter, pressure fed tensioners, a much better injection system and suspension, to name a few. The 3.0 liter engine from 1978 through 1983 is very reliable, with the proper modifications. So my opinion is '78-83 sc's are great cars, but '84 to '88 are a little better if you have the cash !

BTW, you can check out Bruce Anderson's book
@ www.911handbook.com for a review of changes made to each model year. Good luck !

Ryan,
There is much information to be found on the Internet. A lot of crap too!

If you'd care to spend a few dollars on a book, I'd heartily recommend:

Original Porsche 911 (The guide to all production models 1963-98)
Peter Morgan
MBI Publishing
ISBN 1-901432-16-5

Accurate, comprehensive, well illustrated.
