Default SC rear spoilers

I currently have a small whale tail on my '82 SC but have always been a fan of the duck tail which I will probably put on. The current tail is freshly painted Gran Prix white. Anyone with ideas of its worth. Yes I know it is worth what someone will pay but you have to have a starting or minimum point. I would sell it without hardware.

I also am aware that the duck tail was not current to that year, I just like the looks and could not afford a 73 Carrera RS when they were new. Actually can not afford an authentic restored one now. I have fiberglass RS style bumpers for and aft on the car now, as well as the lightweight RS door panels and carpet. Thanks

I'm probably going to do the same thing (like the duck too, and the whale tail is heavy). I'd start at $450, though what do you mean about no hardware?

I will keep the center latch, the hinges and the larger grill that also fits the standard deck and the duck tail I will include the secondary smaller grill that is unique to this mini whale tail. Let me have your e-mail and I will forward a picture of the spoiler on the car. This spoiler has more down-force than the duck tail but I just like the duck tail. Also don't know where you are but there is the shipping cost. It was painted just three months ago. Jack

I also have a harness bar that fits the SC that I don't need as I put a DAS roll bar in the car.

Depending upon condition and if it is an original porsche piece, I would think around $500.

I made the switch and bought a ducktail from MA Shaw, very well built and had it installed in less than an hour. mounting bolts come with it and all you have to do is adjust the fit and change over your latch and grill from the old deck lid or spoiler. There really was no shaping or sanding to do to get a good fit. light sanding with 320 grit and it was ready to prime. Now I have the fiberglass small whale tail (one that does not have the rubber edges) I took off for sale. It has bee sanded fitted and painted Gran Prix white. Bolts for mounting on the deck hinges and the aux small grill are included. I just like the looks of the ducktail and it seems to blend better with the RS front and rear fiberglass bumpers on the car.

you might want to sell the right hand hinge and gas strut along with the whaletale. The new owner will need to add these to lift the added weight.

Actually I do not have a gas strut on the right hinge. It is a free swinging hinge and I only had a gas strut on the left hinge which raised and held open the whale tail with no problem

Just tail, or tail + lid?

I bought an '87 tail w/ lid for around $550 from memory. I sold my '84 tailless lid for... around $300 I think.
