yeah but do a LOT of research, you can get upside down real quick. if you want to do that try and pick up a SC with a solid motor cosmetically challenged and go for it .. but keep in mind by the time your done you could have bought a real nice car ..

Also know that if you buy an SC and put a cheesy body kit on it the resale value will be drastically reduced. People who buy older 911's in most cases want an older 911 not a 993 (95-98 911) wanna be. Just my two cents worth

I have to say i do agree with you though, I love finding cars like the one you have posted, buy them, fixed them up and sell them. I can say that if that car was listed near me and i could buy it right I would jump on it.

i think it all depends on who your customer is, if they are on this board then they want a pure porsche with no mods, if you are just some guy who wants a sports car that looks cool then it doesnt matter.

What does that mean? Actually, it looks like it isn't selling at this point. 49 minutes to go, reserve not met at $16666.99. My guess is the seller is going to take a bath on that car.

As ice points out, a '77 is one of the least desireables. Even if you got it for next to nothing just for the body, you'll have a substantial investment in just getting a decent USED engine for her. If the trans needs work, another big chunk of change. After you learn what an SC or Carrera is, I'd look for one of them that is mechanically sound but maybe needs paint or interior if you want a project. Actually, interior bits get pretty pricey, so don't buy a complete POS.

If you're looking to make money on such a project, let us know how that works out for you. If, however, you want to build a great car for yourself, you can have a blast doing up a 911, but make sure you're checking account had a few $$.

My neighbor here sold his 1977 last month. It had an overhauled 3.0 liter motor from a 1978 to replace the 2.7. Car was repainted and just beautiful. It did not have AC and only a minor issue with cold starts. He had it listed for sale at $15,000 in the Carolina PCA magazine . He put it on ebay and bids went into the $8,000 range. A gentlemen made an offer and drove up from Florida to buy it for $9,800. I would have loved to have the car but the wisdom is not there investment wise. You could have bought his car for much less than what it would take you to fix that car up. There are plenty of other cars more deserving of your efforts to restore them. I would also suggest looking at the 993 model 911 if you like the look.

That car is just too tired. It's been ignored and thus, abused. If that's what you can SEE wrong with hte car, imagine what you're NOT seeing. I would be on the next bus away from that thing.

Agree with what Ed said. There are alot of real experts on here... (im not one of them)... Listen to what they have to say... it will save you lots of cash along the way... If you want a sports car that is cheap to modify and build... buy a Chevy Camaro or Ford Mustang... The 911 is probably not the best car to do that on... my .02.

On the plus side, the cars body is very straight. It has a couple of rust issues on the driver side fender, sunroof panel, and a 2" x 1" piece on the drivers side windshield corner. It has SC flares and aftermarket 9's and 8's which will need tires. The tail appears to an OEM carrera tail. The electrical works and all the lights are functional including the trunk light which I have NEVER seen work in a 911 I have owned!
