You could always store your car at a place like this:

http://www.clubautosport.net/

I'm sure it's very economical

Sure, it could stay outside and some do, but it HAS to take some kind of toll being exposed to the elements all of the time. Not to mention the threat of vandals or accidents.

I agree Ed. The only "good" thing is it will only be for about 6mons. After the wedding in July, its house buying time! WooHoo!

And I would love to see pics of your car btw.

I keep my 89 911 covered off to the side of my house (in a driveway) so it stays in the shade for most of the day. But I live in sunny West Los Angeles. Same for my 81 928. My 67 Dino gets the garage because it is prone to rust. I use Noah covers on the Porsches and they seem to do a great job but only last 2 - 3 years so get a good warranty! I got mine with 4 year warranties and have had both replaced once (2 years of service due to sun rot with no issues at all from BH Motor Sport in Los Angeles or Bev. Hills on the replacement - thumbs up on customer service). Both cars seem to be doing fine although I do worry about shrinkage of the leather dash (928) as it was recently redone. No scratching of the paint and the cars do stay dry during our very light winter.

I assume you have to make sure the car is clean before putting on the cover? If that is the case, would make it a lil difficult due to the 200 days of rain a year here

Yes, the car should be clean of grime before putting on the cover. I shake off the covers every week (or when I take the Porsches out for a spin) and the rain essentially washes them so the covers remain relatively clean. I use that quick detail spray with a micro cloth for a fast detailing before putting on the cover if the car is dirty. Otherwise, dust does not seem to be a problem for the paint finish. I think people underestimate the hardness of the paint finish. The 911 is black and I have not noticed any paint issues.

Being in Oregon you need to get serious about a garage and make sure that the car you buy is the newest you can afford. Around 1975 they got galvanized which has helped considerably but don't kid yourself,--the worst looking Porsches that I have seen for sale on Rennlist were Oregon cars.

Well I am going to change the trend of how Oregonian's treat their 911s!
