That looks like an 84 Carrera TL. Good find as those would be the first ones out!

Beautiful - and congratulations.
You'll have to tell us more, or did I miss an earlier post?

Thanks guys...yup it's an '84 my driving impression compared to 997 well I got say that I love the raw feel,
more connected to the rode...just pure driving pleasure. not as fast compared to my 997 but still pulls strong...

This car is sort of a rare find, former owner died and wife (late 50's ) just wanted to get rid of it...didn't even know they had a wide body carrera.

Any of you guys installed an oem short shift kit? is this any good? I think thats the only upgrade that I want to do for now.

Short shift kit for the 915 isn't necessarily an improvement. It will shorten the throws and take some of the "slop" out, but also makes them very notchy and actually increases effort. At least that's been my experience.

Nice car BTW.

I suggest you not put in the short shift for the reasons stated above. In my opinion it's waste of money.

I disagree on the short shift kit. I have the Porsche short shift kit on my SC, and I love it. It went from having throws longer than a school bus, to having throws on maybe a sporty school bus. Seriously, it changed the nature of the nature of the car, and I can now get into 1st and 2nd without moving my leg out of the way.

Congratulations on your purchase, from one Turbo-look owner to another.

Congrats. Glad to hear of a "brief" search. You just gotta jump in sometimes. Who cares if the water may be a little cold? Some hunt stories on here go on and on and on, painfully at times. lol

I agree with the previous statements on the 915 SSK. If you do want one tho, my dad has his factory SSK that he removed from his 84.
