I saw one for sale a year ago locally...sorry no pictures though. I think they may look a little too, you know, pink looking. Also saw a 928 in velvet red at a sharkfest last year...still too "pink" looking, IMHO. But unique anyways.

Well that is certainly not the metallic pink or rose color I was thinking of. Maybe I was thinking something closer to a rose. The 928 and 911 I saw were more metallic rose colored, which I thought looked pinkish and I thought they called it velvet red....or the photo shows it darker than it looks in person.
That one looks pretty good.

Are you referring possibly to rosewood? Have a look at this link...

the colour is not for everybody, but nobody can argue that it is striking. A guy I was dealing with in Toronto when I was looking for my car has a concours winning 928 in this colour - it is stunning.

The 928 I saw before (it was from Canada, they drove down for the Sharks in the Mountains event in North Carolina in 2008) and it may have been that Rosewood, it was a very nice car...I'm still not so sure about that color though, certainly a unique Porsche color.

I messed up in my last post - it's not rosewood, but Cassis Red Metalic. This link is for an ad for a Carrera for sale in the PCA-Upper Canada Region...

We're likely refering to the same guy with the 928 - he was selling a 911 that I was interested in and he showed me his 928 while I was there. Mentioned that he participates in the NC event. Good guy - Alex is his name. Can't imagine there are many 928's in that colour in that condition.

I have to agree, not many 928"s in nice shape and in that color, probably one and the same.
What would the german version of that name be, Cassis Rot...or something close to that.
While I love my Guards Red targa, this color is much more unique, but I will stick with the guards red.
I'm also thinking I have seen that velvet red on another local 928, after it was totally repainted, it is more red, kind of like a lighter red metallic, and not like this 911 picture you had which is cassis rot.
