VOTE: Best Porsche ENGINE, Best Porsche CAR
So what do the people say?
What was/is the BEST ENGINE racing or street?
What is the BEST Car/Tractor/whatever?
To promote a fairness policy, any type is permitted.
Because this is a write in vote, opinions are permitted, especially if related to
tinkerville type mentality.

No doubt that the best engine ever was the 3.3 l used in the 964 Turbo. The engine was first used in the Turbo from 1977 and Porsche updated and developed the engine over the years. This engine was in use for over 15 years.

So hard to define what "best" means...
For engine I'd go high revving 2.0 or a torquey 3.8 air cooled.
For "best" car...sorry 911 friends but the current Boxster S is too hard to beat, hp be damned.

The 3.0 litre found in the Sc was the base for everything else to follow , all turbos and non turbos. Once the problems of the 2.7 were sorted and the bullet proof 3.0 litre was released , everything was just a bolt on after that, bigger displacement, computers , turboing and twin ignition , all developments built on to that one bullet proof engine.

917 motor is the best porsche ever made..
968 motor is very unique being a 3.0l 4 cyl. 250hp out of a 3.0l was pretty good by the standards of the day. In fact, the only thing that really topped that in a production car was the NSX motor.
best porsche car ever made... probably a 930. The 930 is everything that porsche represents.

The early RS and RSR cars have claimed a part of my brain. I know that newer is better though, and mid engine beats rear engine. When they build the big motor Cayman/Boxter, that will be the cat's whiskers. I can't give the nod to the Carrera GT, Porsche should not make a car that bites the driver. As for engines, Porsche doesn't really make bad ones.
My final nod has to go back to the air cooled classic 911s though. I still remember driving my first really good one, and in the middle of the drive I realized that I loved the car, and I knew I would never get tired of driving one. They will always be the first, best Porsche to me.
