Default cleaning sea water from a 911...

Hey there.
We had an autocross last weekend and it had us going thru sea-foam & salty water...
I've sprayed underneath everywhere alot, but is there anything I should do also?
Please, any suggestions of what to check out or to use would be great.
Have the car up on stands, wheels off and trying to save it.
Thanks!
Marc

I would take it to one of those car washes that blasts the under carriage. But WHO would have an auto cross thru salty water? Sounds rather stupid to me.

I'd recommend an old trick we used to use here on the Space Coast until car companies got metal anti-corrosion coatings and paint down to the state of the practice they use now. Mix some kerosene in a bucket of water and using a garden sprayer spray the entire underside and wheel wells. You'll have to keep shaking the sprayer to keep the solution mixed. Let it dry thoroughly after you do this before driving it. The water and kerosene will flow into all of the seams and box sections.

We used to actually wash the car using this stuff on the upper surfaces as well as the salt-fog would deposit behind he trim and other areas of the car and rust it out in just a couple of years.

What did they do on Risky Business to fix the 928?

'Okay, who's the U-Boat commander?'

hey Slantnose!, marine supply stores such as u.s. marine, or boaters usa, or bass pro shops sell a chemical called salt away which neutralizes the salt to minimize corrosion. The kerosene idea is good,
but not cool for the environment. The salt away can be used the same way though, through a pump up type sprayer or through a garden hose sprayer. hope this helps. Mark

Thank you!
Pretty much have it all cleaned up now, just the stainless steel B&B & brake rotors seem to look different.
Normally, I won't even run the car in the wet/rain...but it was the Virginia Autocross Championships and thought the wet was from a storm the night before and only rain.
Sure hope I got everything in time and good enough.
