Rota 17" Fuchs style are 7.5&9's and run a more modern 225&255/17.

It is getting hard to find tires for the 16's to a degree but not like the 15's.

If I trade my rear 8's for 9's how much add cash should I have to kick in?

Dose this sound right:

7&8/16's $1000-1500
7&9's $1500-2000 (9's about $250 a wheel more than 8's?)
8" 944 Fuchs front with 9" 930 rears for $1800-2200.

Folks,

With it seeming that many folks have moved to 16" Fuchs on the pre 964 cars (tire choices may have influenced this to some degree) where do the 15" 7 & 8 Fuchs land value wise? I'm told they're 'common' but in 6 years my car ('86 3.2L) is the only one I've ever seen the 15"s on; everybody has 16"!

Should I buy my Chateau on the Riviera now or wait a bit...?

Keep your eyes on Pelican....the group buy on the forged 3 piece Fuchs knock-offs by Jeff Alton will be up soon, at a price that would make me forget about taking the chance on a set of used 16" originals, unless I was after a Concours trophy.

I have never seen this but the base wheel for most the SC and Carrera was a 6+7 15. This is what I have been told by a very knoladgable source. I have seen a bunch w 7&8/15's but never the 6's in front escept on the 72-77 Carrera.

It is getting difficult ot find street tires for 15's. Yes there ar a few but I would guess in the long term 15's will go soft. Rare 9's and 11's may even soften but will remain valuable due to there rarity.

Just my guess.

If you can hold off for about 18 months there will be a new release of "Fuchs" in America. They will be sized up for the more modern cars (19 inch) initially but will also be made in awhile for the older cars, taking them up to 17 inches. They will be fully forged, and of the same design, but up sized to handle to more prolific tires in modern dimensions.

A friend of mine has acquired the rights to "Fuchs" wheels in America. He is presently working to line up a manufacturing operation in SoCal to produce spin-forged wheels, with the balance being done via CNC machine. I have a couple of their brochures in which they show off some of their designs. They are all fundamentally the original Fuch alloy design (windmills) but upsized to the modern dimensions like 19 inch.

Stand by for more as they get their operation underway. They will be stocking the 19s and hope to move on to 18s and then 17s soon.

Price-wise, they will not be rediculous.

As a data-point for many of you, Fuchs in Germany is like Alcoa in America,--their major aluminum producer of things aluminum.

Welcome any good wheels for early Porsches. Trully wish they would do a large run of original rims. then some 17's.

Will have to see it by my first impression of a 19" windmill is not necessarily positive and seems misdirected. Hope this guy dose his home work including some focus group studies.

Posting some conceptuals here could be very valuable.

I run 7&8 15s and have 2 sets. I bought my 2nd set back in February for $800 but they were painted red and have a few scuffs here and there. I painted them blue as you can see in my avatar and run them on the track. The change in gearing/acceleration they provide is nice and Hoosier makes tires for them in 205, 215, 225, 245, and 275.

15x9s are extremely rare and the last set I saw went for something like $5K a pair.

If someone were to produce a 17" Fuchs replica that was up to the demands of the track I would definitely be interested so I could run 8s and 9s. There aren't many choices out there for our older cars and most are $2500 or more a set.

Chris,

Wow! I've always been a Guards Red/Black fan and have two cars in that standard scheme but the White/French Blue scheme is enough to make me 'cheat' on my true love... Fuchs rule in my mind. What a sexy looking SC...

I have a new, in the box 16 x 6 flat face (black center) that I'm looking to sell. Anyone interested?
The BACK edge is a little scratched from where the box wore through from it being moved around the
stock room for many years. PM me for pics.

Hmmm, the $$$ numbers sound interesting!
I have a stock set in my garage from my '88 Carrera collecting dust (actually individually bagged).

The new BBS's are sweet.

$14k sound like a sweet deal (even $1400!). Anyone wanna make an offer?

Nobody is going to buy 19 inch Fuchs. What car would one use those on?!?

Nobody (very few) are going to put them on a modern (i.e. watercooled) porsche. They would look ridiculous, old style wheels on a modern style car.

And they are too big for the air cooled cars.

Gab997 - you have a PM. I have a rare set of 8's and 9's going up for sale soon. The markings on 9" rims reads as follows 9 J x 16 ET 15 911362119 AS1062 and the 8" rims read 8 J x 16 ET 23.3 9511362117 AS1062. They have R compounds on them now but may save them for other rims. Let me know if you are interested otherwise I wil post a FS ad tomorrow.
