Default Rough idle update

I posted a while back regarding the rough idle on my '87 Carrera. I did a full tune up which included valve adjust, timing, replacing all the ignition wires, rotor cap, plugs, etc; none of which had any effect on the idle situation. Yesterday the car wouldn't start so I replaced the DME relay. That fixed the non-starting problem but I noticed an unexpected benefit in that the idle became much smoother. I suspect the faulty relay had some sort of an effect on the ignition which cleared up after replacing the relay. I have no clue as to why, this would be a sparky guy question, but it's just something to keep in mind should any of you have the same idle issue.
