Default Insurance for tourists to US?

Hi all,

I am planning on picking up a car in Hawaii this year and was wondering if anybody could advise if insurance for a week or two would be obtainable for an australian citizen?

I also have German passport and drivers license, if easier for europeans?

Best regards from Down Under

Martin

actually your own insurance should cover it. just tell them you are picking up a car and need a binder for a few days , should be no biggie

Ask whoever you are renting from what their policy is for insurance.

Hi Spider,

I was not ment to be renting, I am buying a 1986 911 and thought instead of using a rental I could use my own car.....

Martin - Try AAA.com. You can get an int'l driver's license from them and probably an insurance policy.

Hi Bryan,

I send the AAA an email.
Chris said he might be able to insure me under his policy? Some strange rules you have over there....

Best regards

With the web you can learn a lot there,--try State Farm Insurance, GEICO, etc. Someone should be happy to underwrite a short period while in the USA for you.
