Angry Dashboard "bubble" -- suggestions?

My '88 Carrera has somehow developed a little "bubble" on the dash, right between the defroster vent and the edge of the portion that covers the gauges. Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can straighten that out without cracking it? Is it even possible?

It's not very big, so I would not want to replace the dash. Not even sure when or how it happened, as the car is rarely in the sun or extreme temperature for any length of time.

Thanks,
Sean

I don't have any pictures, but maybe I can describe it a little better:

If you look at the dash through the windshield, on the drivers side, you can see the defrost vent. Behind that is a ridge where the "pod" for the instrument panel begins. Right at the edge of that pod, the vinyl has warped up just a bit to form a little bubble. So instead of the nice defined edge all the way across where the pod meets that flat part of the dash, there's now a little bubble in the middle of that ridge.

Make any sense?

Also, the dash does not have a leather covering, it's just the standard vinyl/plastic.
