Welcome to Rennlist. Honestly, the best thing to do is get Pete Zimmerman's book titled 'the used 911 story' It will describe what to look at. And always always get a PPI from an independent mechanic that has a lot of experience with 911s of that vintage.

Welcome aboard! I assume by "ferry edition", you're referring to a '88 Commemorative Edition (Diamond Blue Metallic paint, wheels the same color, and the seats have Ferry's signature on them). The CEs were basically "cosmetic packaging" of a regular G50 (tranny) 911 (nothing wrong with that), but most of the ones I've seen have been well kept examples. Do a search here and (especially) on Pelican using "Commemorative Edition" as your search argument, and you will find quite a bit of information in the archives regarding them. Since you're looking on Tues, I'd suggest taking some pics (if you can), get all the pertinent information, and post back here (or Pelican) with the specifics, and we "may" be able to evaluate the car's condition and let you know if it's worth pursuing. Don't fall in love with the first one you look at , and a PPI (pre purchase inspection) from a mechanic that KNOWS air cooled 911s is highly recommended. Hope this helps...

I'll add to Keith's post above in that the "Signature Edition" will have special carpeting that is a bit thicker in pile than normal 911 carpeting. There could be a dash plaque as well.

Quite nice looking cars if they are still well kept. I've seen a few ratty ones...so not all will be mint at this stage in the game.

Hi - I have that car - you get short shift - silk & wool carpets, colour coded fuchs and the car had elec seats and roof as std.

The cars have mostly lost their plqs off the dash over time but they do appear at swap meet sales from time to time, I have had my car for 6 years and have loved every moment - but as others have said a ppi is a must.
Good luck and welcome...
