Post Missfire 82SC

After 2 years ownership, it has actually gone wrong!
Out driving yesterday, noticed a change in engine note, and lack of power, this has occured before, a quick check has revealed a lead off its plug, but not this time, have had all plugs out and number 5 Cylinder's not sparking while out, now plugs are only 10K Miles old, whereas leads are 21 yrs old, should, i start with a new set outright? (rotor and cap, are OK BTW)

Wires are 21 years old? There is probably your answer.

I recently had a similar problem, changed to Magnacor wires...solved the problem and the car is now running much better than ever.

Magnecor wires are the best. They're also cheap. I only paid $102 for mine and that's half what the dealer wants for crappy wires.

Magnecor have a website here in the UK, which i duly e-mailed, only for my son to take a phone call some days later, in which theyre' sales guy
informed him that our e-mail address was no good,
(we contacted him on it) and that he had no time to waste replying to potential customers by means of the phone every time, WTF?
Basil Fawlty lives,
needless to say, i think i'll make enquiries elswhere thank you very much
Cheers anyway guys

Rich,

FWIW, another recommendation for the Magnecors. Put them on my 81 SC last summer, and am very happy with their performance.

Glad to hear they work ok, i think i may look at getting some to fit at a later date, unfortunately, after fitting a spare lead to cylinder 1, the problem persists, which means i have other fish to fry, before i can look at leads

If you're sure the plug and lead are OK , take the plug out put it's lead into another 'take off' from the distrutor and ground it . If it sparks OK from that place on the distributor then you know that pos 5 on the distibutor is non-seviceable . Replace the distributor cap and all should be well .
