Cool Porsche Torque vs GM Torque

I rent cars weekly and typically just ask for a sunroof. This week, however, I flew into an airport that had none. This usually pushes me to ask fora manager but as I was planning my appeal I spotted THE ONE. Since they don't offer Porsches, this was the best they've ever offered me.

Forget that the color was red an the hood scoops don't work. The '08 G8 made me feel like Ricky Bobby's Daddy in Talladega Nights!

367 hp and the stable suspnsion was enough a nice (low speed) drift everytime I could find a rural curve without witnesses. 'Just' like my 911, I was quickly able to setup slides into turns that left me pointing the right direction everytime (usually at the apex).

A final burnout behind a warehouse left the car wreaking of rubber when I returned it.

Ssssssh!! I'm going to dream of this car being on the lot everywhere I fly. Don't ruin it for me.

"If you have the means I highly recommend it!"

I saw it first at the car show last year pre release and liked it. Saw one on the road recently in a graphite gray and really liked the exterior. The interior is a bit cheesy (pontiac orange gauges). It is based on the Holden Monaro (Australia-GM). It reminds me of the BMW 5 series through the cabin/window area but with a tougher edge on the front/back.

I'd wait a year or tow and buy when the the price of them plummets like most Pontiacs. I think a V6 with the right tire/wheel/suspension/brake package would be the car with the right looks and the economy. It still has like 270HP.

pontiacg8.com is the website diamond...

Default Pic

I snapped this picture of it in NYC Thursday afternoon. For some reason my phone's camera can't capture red correctly. The car is almost guard's red even though it looks orange in this picture.

This is the 4-door version of the GTO and new Camaro, which are both based on the Australian Holden Monaro. I'm told that Aussies call the 4-door the Holden Commodore.

This version has 367 hp and a 6 speed auto. In '09 there will be a GTP w/402 hp and a 6 speed manual trans.

I feel compelled to say this: isn't the OT Forum where OT posts go?

Seriously, if everyone takes this type of liberty by putting "OT" in the thread title, this turns into a chatroom.

Sorry about posting here. This is the ONLY forum imo, and I've never been elsewhere.

you know, it doesn't matter that much. I notice that you (Laugh) can't see the off topic forum anyway.
Maybe check out pelican OT, it's free.
This place is filled with OT BS anyway. At least yours is about a car.

well since this is a totally off topic thread now anyway ......

hey Ed , i think i saw someone looking for your advice, looks like some guy bolted a turbo to his carrera then took it to the drag strip ....... and it broke ......

I imagine it would make your money shift look like spare change ?

Default 2.7 BAE turbo

I have a turbo kit for my 2.7. If heat is the only enemy then I may be okay. A catastrophic failure will just create the perfect excuse for adding more displacement.

By the way, I paid Rennlist fees but never saw a renewal email, etc.

Roger that! I hope the Panamera packs as much punch as the G8. Even after I attach the turbo kit to my 911 I won't expect much low-end torque like my current vette has or my former S4 928 had.

Not sure why anyone would want my advice if they blew up a turbo at a dragstrip. Sounds like apples and oranges. There are a LOT of people that have missed shifts on road courses, just for the record. It's not like I cornered the market on that.
