I really have to agree with that,..

I've been here since it was called PorscheFans, then PorscheList, finally Rennlist and have never been reticent about posting my experiences and opinions about MM. Hopefully, that has struck a chord with the readers here and enabled someone to make an informed decision. That is, after all, one of major benefits of this medium.

You gotta' do what you gotta' do......and I respect that, above all else....regardless of any opinions here.

I can't believe any print media would blindly use them with ALL of the complaints,...kinda' speaks to the pubs, if you were to ask me...all for the frikin' buck,.....at all costs,.....compromise city,..I'm kinda' sick-o-the-****, too.

",..can't we find the minds that lead us closer to the heart?"

My best,

Great posts .... only one question ........

what does "reticent" mean :-)

If it means not saying bad things cause you might get sued .. I agree, but we can infer all the same ....

This thread raises interesting questions about what standards Rennlist, or anyother advert-income-receiving source should impose on their advertising.

Perhaps "standards for acceptance" of advertising are harder to establish and less important than "standards for exclusion". Evidence of many complaints of bad business practices without good faith efforts to resolve the disputes might work.

A little real world here from a brightster. 1. You have an expert. 2. The word opinion is a good one. You are entilted to an opinion, usually without fear of getting sued. IMO or may or may be are wise fudge words in today's world of lawyers. 3. Informaing others of danger may not be a responsibility, but close to it.

Ya know, g-50 not only has a good point, but he is doing the most honest thing an individual can do: vote with action (and his wallet). Just as the "new RL" has the right to accept what businesses wish to pay for advertising, we have a right to suspend our membership and support for what we may deem "bad practices." This should be conveyed to the RL powers that be. They may not care about our piddly little membership fees in contrast to MM's advertising dollars; so be it. But then again, if the concerns are raised, at least it may give them pause, especially should revenue among us private members decline. In good faith and support of g-50's action, I am willing to sign a petition urging RL to deny advertising to MM. Thoughts??

You would think that someone at IB would read a fiew threads here and there and catch an idea of the mood of the croud. Does MM not know of the reputation they have here? MM and Victory are the only two places I can recall that have a 100% FAIL rate with Rennlisters.

On another note....Wouldn't it be fun to see someone from MM sign on rennlist. It would be world war III. Like Steve Wong and Lorenfb going at it about chips. It could be fun.

Well, I don't think Victory has a 100% fail rate, from time to time you hear of someone who bought a car from there and were content.

As for the this idea, on the whole I am for it. However I can see a counter argument; where do you draw the line? (Devils advocate here). So you ban MM from advertising because some people have been screwed by them. Okay. Who's next? Everytime you have a dissatisfied customer you ban the company from advertising? What if Pelican shipped me some boxes and they had scratches in them and because I am such a ***** I demand they be banned, would anyone listen? What if a personal transaction between two members goes bad, for some reason, in the For Sale section? Do you band both? Just the seller, or maybe the buyer?

That was just the devils advocate playing. I agree that MM is an extraordinary case. I think the best way is to tell IB that no one will renew their paid subscriptions until MM is no longer allowed to advertise. Also, depending on the advertising contract it maybe easier said than done, although I am by no means a contract lawyer or even close.

Just my 2am rambling thoughts.
Cheers!

Has anyone ever contact the media so they could do one of their funky undercover investigations? The poor middle aged man who saved up a life time to buy his dream car screwed by an evil company and the government that failed to do anything about it?

Doug,

That DID happen,...

Several years ago when RennList was just a daily e-mail list, 'ol Roy of MM fame used to participate several times a day as a regular. He's a true master salesman who could sell ice to an Eskimo.

He disappeared very quickly when customers (Rennlisters) began noticing things and complaining.

Advertisers should get a user name and automatically get subscribed to the forums they wish to gain profit from.
Hopefully, if they are dirtbags, then people will tell them so and they will leave or straighten up their practices.
If they leave, any remaining advertising fee is forfieted. Their ad space/time is then resold to someone else.
Create a scorecard for each advertiser. Let paid members leave comments about their performance. make them maintain a score above 75% (or whatever) to retain the right to pay for advertising here.
Include search capabilities/results on the scorecard page. Reward good advertisers by reducing their rates. Make them pay more the lower their score goes.

Good business practices will benefit everyone and bad business practices will help to 'cull the herd'.
