Question last year for valve adjustments?

on 911's, what was the last year to need valve adjustments / first year without?

The 964 (89-93) was the last model requiring valve adjustment, as far as I remember.

in the US the 1995 model ( 993 ) was the first one not to require valve adjustment

i'm considering getting rid of the BMW and maybe picking up a 911.

i recall from my younger years the task of valve adjustments on my Beetles and would prefer not to repeat that task (or pay to have it done) ...

It is expensive to have it done but it is a DIY. I do my own. The first or second valve adjust is a bit of a pain and a learning curve but now it is just a breeze. That and it is every 15K (I think) that you are suppose to have it done. Personally, I wouldn't let this deter you from owning a certain year of 911.

At least having the 15k vave adjustment goves you the chance to inspect the condtion of the cams, rocker arms, etc... before you start hearing strange noises.

I humbly offer the suggestion to purchase the 8th Edition of my book (my signature), it sounds like you should probably do some reading before the hunt begins !
