Default Hell of a deal or something is up.

I would certainly not sell my car for this cheap.

I know it has 175,000 miles on it but come on...this is an 88 with the oh so good looking and fast Grand prix White.

the "C" is broken off the "arrera". That has got to account for something like a grand or two!

Who knows what the condition really is? I mean if the seller knows that oil consumption is up, suspension needs a refresh, clutch is due...etc. Then the price is not out of line.

Lately I have seen prices start going down and like you said, it is a high mileage. Now, you and I both know that mileage is not everything but to the average Joe it is.

I found this car only because someone Pm'd me asking if the car in my avitar was up for sale on ebay. I was like " not that I know of". I had thought maybe someone had found pictures of my car and had a scam add on ebay. This was the only car that was even close to mine.

Anyway, good looking car. I didnt read anything but the mileage and year and price. I would think the car would be worth every bit of that money in parts alone.

The ebay description is somehow funky. It's been revised and doesn't show the status of the title as being clear or the vin # as most all ebay motors listings do. I guarantee there's something up with the history of this car. If it seems too good to be true................. Buyer Beware!!

I wondered what all the fuss was about and went to look at the linked ad. Let me just say that deals like that are out there.

Even slightly better deals. 1988 GP white, no broken "C" on the Carrera, sunroof (no Targa top). Clean Carfax (but owner-disclosed wreck resulting in replaced driver's side door & rear fender). 148K miles. True "Turn-key driver." See my video below.

Now I wouldn't sell MY 911 for that price.

But I'm darned sure glad my PO did.

The Video.

Looks like a nice car...economy in CA is not doing to well with over 7.6% unemployment. I think you will run across good deals out here in the next few years.

175,000 miles! I don't see this as a deal for a stock street car no matter what. My '87 Targa with 78,000 miles was $16,000: a fair buy but not a great deal, at least around here. There are too many decent porsches with 100,000 miles or less around to be messing with cars with this kind of milage unless you want to build a racer and then it should way cheaper.
My $00.02.

Based on miles, accident history, and interior being "normal" wear (probably a little tired) I'd say it's a fair price. Maybe it's a theft-recovery. Maybe it's a repo. Maybe the PO was really down on his/her luck (worked for CountryWide), or maybe ... like the case of my recently-aquired Ford F-150 for a song ... the car has sat on the lot too long and it's gotta go.

I'd want to know the status of the title before I made the next move. Salvaged?

Maybe the valve guides are shot, and it's not worth it to the PO to repair. (You could get a "smokin'" deal, HaHa!)

"no rust"? Check out the pic of the door jamb VIN sticker. Looks like some significant rocker panel rust emerging from underneath the sill rubber.

The VIN on the door sticker is NOT the one indicated on the ebay ad. The ad VIN is for a 1987 model.

Otherwise it looks like a pretty decent car. I'd definitely like a look at the underside before bidding, though. Then again, I'd never bid this much on any car without seeing and driving it first.

Maybe the ad has been revised again, but the VIN sticker indicates a 1988 year model Coupe "J" is the 10th figure, so it is for a 1988????

Yes, the car is a 1988. The VIN on the door jamb is WP0AB0916JS120501

The VIN listed in the narrative of the ad is for a 1987 model. Could be an honest mistake, but if a Carfax is run on that VIN, it will be for a different car.

That said, if I was near the Bay Area and was in the market for a G50 coupe, I'd definitely check this one out...in person.
